Promotional Flyer for Canopy
Following a few days of working behind the scenes in the store, I went on a buying trip with the brand to London. We visited two brands: American Vintage and Pen and Ink.
Along with two others, I went through each of the ranges and picked out garments based on what has sold well in the past, which garments will best suit Canopy's target audience, as well as which colours are appropriate and in trend for the season being bought for.
Following the initial selection, we went through the selected garments again and narrowed them down, ensuring all trends had been covered as well as key colours, whilst considering the customers' needs and wants.

- Gained experience in product costing, completing cost sheets with guidance. Gained understanding of everything that goes into a cost - duty, box size and how many garments can be fit in, commission, etc.
- Presented trend research to the Design Manager, showing key seasonal direction. This was a monthly meeting where the trainee buyers on women's non-clothing presented, allowing me to voice what I had seen.
- Attended fit sessions and contributed feedback on garment fit and design. Gained a depth of understanding of what both tech and buying look for in the fit of a product, as well as the fabric.
- Approved bulk hangers and lab dips with support, demonstrating attention to detail.
- Sent out P&Ps to suppliers, learning key components required for them. Gained a competency in how to navigate buyer's range plan to do this.
